Short summaries

Japanese Publication  Characters The Song's Lyrics
Covers all around the world Characters' names He sings

Most japanese surnames are written using one or more chinese signs (kanjis).

In 20th Century Boys, very few kanjis are used in the manga for the characters, the author uses most of the times katakana (a japanese alphabet currently used to transcript foreign word). This is in part due to the fact that certain characters are known by their nickname but also probably to reinforce that these characters have met when they were children. Sometimes in the manga, the real name/surname can appear and not the katakana transcription (on identity cards, diplomas, etc.).

The aim of this page is to list the different names used in the manga and the corresponding french transcription.

Warning : You need to be able to display japanese caracters to visualise the page

The list below lists the major characters encountered in volume 1 (almost in the order of appearance). It will be completed soon with characters appearing in other volumes. .

Notes :

Besides Keroyon which has been adapted (Croa-Croa) all other names are transcriptions from Japanase. There are differences in the transcription of certain kanjis between the french edition and the scanlation by mangascreener. I've put the transcriptions of the french translator because I thought he could have information coming with the volumes he translates but I'm not sure this is the case. If someone has an idea on what the best transcription is, please go to the forum.
Komon Masaaki(FR)/Shimon Masaaki
